In her book, this source writes on page 41:
. . . because I was executor of my Uncle James's will, in which he had left L$2,000 [2,000 pounds] to each of his three [surviving] sisters, and my mother told me she made her L$2,000 [2,000 pounds sterling] straight over to Annie. L$2,000 [2,000 pounds] in 1920 was quite a large sum of money and in any case my mother did everything for Annie, and really worked jolly hard.
[The Uncle James, for whom Jessica was executor, was James GOULTON (b. July 28, 1850). The three surviving sisters were all aunts of Jessica GOATCHER. The three were Sarah GOULTON, Grace GOULTON and probably AlmaGOULTON. Alice GOULTON presumably died young because she is never mentioned in the book written by Jessica GOATCHER. The other sister, Annie GOULTON, died in 1892 much earlier than James. Alma GOULTON had gone to live in Africa many years earlier.
