In a verbal interview with Jessica (nee GOATCHER) GODWIN, in 1997, whenshe was 104 or 105, she recounted, to David COLE, the following information about brother. She spoke of him as being her naughty brother William.

William first married Winnifred (Winnie) BOWN, but their marriage was never consummated, so William felt that the marriage was null and void. William subsequently married Winnifred TICEHURST and they moved to Canada and lived near Fort William/Port Arthur [now Thunder Bay, ON, Canada]. His writings that were published in a newspaper [of his] were not appreciated by the Canadian government and he was forced to leave Canada. He returned to England. He eventually moved to California, USA, where he changed his name to Christopher (Bill) GAUTHIER. Winnifred TICEHURSTbore him a son David GAUTHIER, but she and William separated (or perhaps she died) sometime after David's birth. William eventually married Eleanor WATT-JONES who became the step-mother of David GAUTHIER. One day, Winnie BOWN arrived at their house and was invited to stay overnight. She accepted and subsequently slept with William, which could be considered as consummating their earlier marriage. Eleanor understood the potential threat that Winnie BOWN could cause to her relationship with William, so they promptly moved to South Africa where David was raised for a time. Eventually Eleanor relocated back to England and David to the USA. After William's death, David agreed to return to England to look after his step-mother, Eleanor, for which he was to inherit her house. When Eleanor died, David sold the house for 25,000 pounds, which heused to buy a large sailboat. Soon after, he wrecked the sailboat completely. Jessica had a photograph of William GOATCHER's three wives standing side by side. Jessica showed the photograph to David COLE in 1997, just before she died. This photograph must have been taken before his wife, Winnifred TICEHURST, died at which time Eleanor WATT-JONES wasjust a friend.

When David Cole visited Jessica (nee GOATCHER) GODWIN in 1997 just before her death, the three wives of her brother William were one of their topics of conversation. Jessica showed David a photo of his three wives. When asked why William was not in the photo, Jessica said that he was the one taking the picture. This photo must have been taken before William's second wife, Winnifred TICEHURST died. It is not known whether any of William's marriages were properly performed and/or recorded.

George LILOF, the second husband of Jessica (nee GOATCHER) GODWIN, had previously married Dorothy WATT-JONES, the sister of Eleanor WATT-JONES.It was William Noel GOATCHER who introduced George LILOF to Jessica (nee GOATCHER) GODWIN. It is generally known that George LILOF married Jessica for her money.
