Sir John Lercedekne Knight, husband of Cecelia de Haccombe in 1341 endowed the Chantry of Haccombe with the great tithe of St. Hugh de Quidyock in conformity with the wishes of Sir Stephen de Haccombe, who had applied to Bishop Grandisson 1327 - 1328 to erect a parish church at St. Blaze at Haccombe.
