The above photo shows the extent of the county of Devon in SouthWest England. Devon is the light green area around Exeter near the center of the map. The grave of Elizabeth Champernon COLE is in a cemetary in Cornwood that is very close to Plymouth but in Devon (Source 6).
COLES of Slade are a subgroup of the COLES of Devon. Susiestan (Source 2) has studied the COLES of Slade and has extended her focus to include other COLES of Devon. This connection is quite complex. To trace it; begin with Simon COLE (1437-1497) in ColesOfDevon. Follow this relationship down to William COLE of Slade who marries Elizabeth Champernon. Then find Philip de Courtenay I (1404-1463) , who is an ancestor of Elizabeth Champernon. Philip de Courtenay I married Elizabeth HUNGERFORD (1406-1476) in DataBase davidcole3. Philip de Courtenay I had an ancestor Sir Hugh de COURTENAY II who married Agnes St. Johns. This couple (these spouses) are found to be ancestors of Elphege Richard who is the father of Yvette Louise nee Richard Cole, the wife of David KC COLE who are all in DataBase davidcole3.
