Obituary for Sophie PAYNE In Source 1, Paul Delaney wrote: "Sophie Payne (Penn) of the Madeleine Islands: New Findings" notes, "In 1811, John Payne said in a letter he was moving to the Magdelen Islands...". On 24 July 1814, "Lauren Thisdelle" and "Jean Pain" are recorded (in French) upon the marriage of their daughter Sophia Pain to william Cummings. The priest noted that Thisdelle and Pain were "de ces isles" (of these islands). "The priest's record identified their residence in the Magdalen Islands, not their religious affiliation. Both Boudreau and Delaney have noted that if Lydia had died between 1814 and 1821, when John remarried, her tombstone and a record of her passing would be found in a Protestant church."
