tea leave reader
Tasseography simply means "reading tea leaves". This articles describes various ways that tea leaves can be read.
The Ritual
Many different rituals exist for reading tea leaves.
Source 1 says:
Put a pinch of tealeaves in the cup and pour boiling water over them, allowing it to stand about
three minutes. Drink the contents of the cup leaving the tea leaves and a very small amount of liquid
in the bottom. The tea leaves in the photo below were said to contain the following objects:

Performing The Ritual
Source 3 talks about using a teapot:
Tradition states that you should only read the leaves from the first cup of tea that is poured from a pot. This means only one person can have their leaves read from each pot. The main reason for this is that tea-leaves flow out of the pot more easily with the first cup. The remaining tea-leaves tend to stick to the pot and result in a less accurate reading.
Source 3 also says that the proper ritual is as follows:
1. Make sure that you have drunk virtually all the tea so only a teaspoonful remains in the bottom of the cup.
2. Take the cup in your left hand if you are right-handed or your right hand if you are left-handed. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Silently ask your question or ask for guidance about your future.
3. When you are ready, turn the cup 3 times in an anticlockwise direction, then turn it upside down on its saucer and leave it to drain for about 30 seconds.
4. When you are certain that all the tea has drained into the saucer, carefully turn the cup upright. You are now ready to interpret the shapes of the tea-leaves in the cup.

Some symbols may appear in completion, while others may appear faded or in broken structure which may
symbolize a negative interpretation. This list is not all-inclusive and literally millions of symbols
exist. This is often why many practitioners choose to photograph the reading. It may take many hours,
if not longer, to determine all of the patterns available. Using psychic ability, intuition, feelings,
and focus, symbols will be discovered and linked together, some on this list, some not on this list.
Rorschach Tests
Clinical Psychologists use Rorschach Tests to try to understand what their clients are thinking about. Some people think that there is a slight
resemblance between describing an object in a Rorschach Test and reading tea leaves. (This doesn't necessarily imply that tea leave subjects or readers are crazy.)
