And lineally descended of the said Sir John Cole, first above mentioned, in which book (in the custody of Thomas Cole of the Inner Temple, Gent. The Cole pedigree was recorded in 1585, and was in the possession of Thomas Cole of the Inner Temple in 1630. The year 1630 is an important point of reference in the source "The Genealogy of the Family of Cole, of the County of Devon" beginning on page 36 with #10 John Cole, who married Mary Archdeacon. #11 is their son Thomas Cole of London who married Elizabeth Hargrave. #12 Their son William Cole of London married Anne Colles. Their eldest son and heir was (Ia.) Michael. (IIa.) Their next son was "William, born 158[7?] married Elizabeth] Deards, and one of their sons was Humphrey (of which no other information is printed in the book). (page 27) Their next son was (IIIa.) "Thomas Cole (son of Wm. Cole and Anne, daughter of Michael Colles) was of the Inner Temple, London...
