While waiting for things to be built: You should attack lvl 1 to lvl 2 (Lvl 3 later) river wilds to get Grey Aglets. You need up to 50 Grey Aglets each day. Do not train Hastatus, Sagittarius, or Speculators. Trade 5 Grey Aglets for 1 Mini-Pack of captives. 1 Mini-Pack of captives contains Hastatus, Sagittarius, and Speculators. You can also trade 20 Grey Aglets for 3 Mini-Packs. Don't attack non-water wilds, they produce smoke which lets the enemy spike (counter-attack) your attacks. Only make your amphitheatre lvl 1. Only hire heroes that are level 1 to 3. others cost too much to maintain. Do the above for about 5 to 10 days and you will have a big army. Study only the important techs in the University and the Academy. Ask in league chat which ones are important. Build only 2 warehouses only to lvl 3. Build your Temple to lvl 2 only & Market to lvl 4 Only grow your rectorate to lvl 4 & workplaces (quarry, farm, mine, sawmill) to lvl 4 -end- ................................................................................... Guide #02 Aedile Promotion Requirements (other promotions will show in Quest) Promotion requirements are: 20K Sesterces 2000 Prestige 10 Dye 5 Spices Upgrading your Rectorate to Level 4 gives you: 10K Crops 260K Lumber 10K Stone 10K Metal 2 Hippodamian Plans 10 Dye 5 Spices The only other things you need to be promoted are: 2K Prestige and $20K Sesterces -end- ................................................................................... Guide #03 Heroes and Consuls 1. If you are farming Grey Aglets,Guide #1, you need 20-40 heroes/city. Each one should either be a POT hero (blue) or under level 5 (only 1-4). Dismiss those above lvl 4. To maximize his Experience when fighting use your POT hero first, use up ALL of his physical before other heroes, 2. When not fighting, your POT hero must be Consul (& overnight) 3. Only upgrade the level of your POT heroes, NOT others. Check daily, and when POT Hero Experience is fully Green, click "Update" until is NOT fully green. Then apply his unused Trait Points to Sway, then Bravery & Parry. 4. Later on, your amphitheatre in your biggest city should be max level, so that you have a big range of heroes to choose from. To exclude high level heroes, amphitheatres in your other cities should be lvl 1. 5. To get FREE hero prisoners, seize wilds instead of marauding to get a hero prisoner about 1 in 4. While prisoner:no hourly retainer needed. 6. POT Heroes = blue names & are in Recruitment packs in your My Items Chest. -end- ................................................................................... Guide #04 What to study first It is just as important to study 24/7 as it is to create jobs, build and train troops. Here is an initial study guide: Agronomy first.(and its reward is 30,000 sesterces) Crops are the most important thing in this game. You need to feed crops to your army. Always keep Agronomy at its highest level possible. Then study the other job techs: Forestry, Hammering and Mining Then study Gastronomy (troop feeding) Then stacking to improve your Warehouse capacity. Then get your Reconnaissance up to level 3. (Specs will return wild troops # data) Then Navigation (to make your troops travel faster) -end- ....................................................................................................... Guide #05 Builds that you can complete instantly Some buildings can be built without waiting. They are all listed below. To complete a building instantly, just click on the green spot after the "build info" in the top left corner. Guide #06 Buy cheap (slow delivery) crops When buying crops, you can BUY them at the current "buy" rate and get them in 30 minutes. OR You can buy cheaper crops that you have to wait for someone to sell. To buy these cheaper crops, offer to buy them at the "Sell" price plus 0.0001 sesterces. As soon as someone else decides to sell his crops, he will sell them TO YOU at this cheap price. Sometimes, this "Sell" price is 90% lower than the "Buy" price. That's when you get a real bargain. But don't buy more than you can store in your Warehouses or hide in your Market (or you might be marauded). :( BUT make sure to BUY crops at this cheap price; do not SELL your crops at this cheap price, or you will be sorry. Sometime others will place BUY orders a little higher than yours and start a "Market war". :) The best time to place these cheaper BUY orders is just before you go off-line at night. -end- ....................................................................................................... Guide #07 How to Get Crops for Armies You need lots of crops to feed your growing armies. So beware: if you cannot feed your armies, they will riot and leave your city. . . . forever. Never let you hourly crop production stay red (It should be green). Never let your # of crops stay RED (Upgrade your warehouse levels, you need 2 warehouses) Build 7 cottages in each city. Level them up as high as you can. Always, always, always be creating Farm jobs, check every 15 minutes. Study as much Agronomy and Gastronomy as you can afford Build and raise your Temple level as high as possible. Upgrade your Farm to the highest level possible. Build a 2nd city with lots of Cottages in it Buy crops in the Market whenever the price is under 0.01 sesterces. Hoard (Hide) your Crops in groups of 2.9 million in your Market (Even more, later). Do all these and you will never run out of crops. -end- ....................................................................................................... Guide #08 Kill Matrix (Equivalent Hastatus) When 2 armies are comprised of different troop types, it is quite easy to determine if one army is stronger than the other. There ARE other factors such as hero level, armour and tech levels. The following matrix shows roughly how many of each type of troop is equivalent to 1 of another type. For example 10 Hastatus are equivalent to 1 Equite. To see if your army will beat another, convert all non-Hastatus to eH (their equivalent number of Hastatus). If you have twice the number of equivalent Hastatus as your enemy, you are pretty sure to win (unless the enemy is helped by another army). To be more accurate, compare the 2 front rows and then compare the 2 back rows. With very big armies, the hero levels matter. Guide #09 Rectorate Level Seized Wilds Big Armies come from Big Cities. Training troops and building big cities require huge amounts of resources. High Level Seized Wilds generate maximum resources. Your seized wilds should be at least the same level as your Rectorate. You can have the same number of seized wilds as your Rectorate Level (but not over 10). Stronger league members will help you seize bigger wilds. Just ask in League Chat. But don't seize wilds from other lords. Seized wilds can be far away because you only wait to seize them once. Only seize unowned wilds. "RLS Wilds" means "Rectorate Level Seized Wilds". Remember: water wilds are safe from spikers: NO SMOKE. With small armies, use Protective Stop. Are ALL of your seized wilds as least "RLS Wilds"? They should be. Check NOW and do something about it, if necessary. -end- ................................................................................... Guide #10 Locating Cities near League Central It is important to locate your main cities near League Central so our league can help defend you when you are attacked. It also shortens the time to get resources from members & coordinate joint attacks. Later cities should be near RC's & other league members in other provinces. To best locate your cities, Before building your 2nd city: 1. Ask where League Central is. If none, go to Britons. 2. Choose a location near League Central & beside a lvl 3 river to build your 2nd city. 3. Upgrade 2nd city till its army can attack its lvl 3 river wild. While waiting, keep farming Aglets using your 1st city's troops 5.Transfer your main hero and all your troops from 1st city to reinforce your 2nd city 6. Relocate your 1st city right beside your 2nd city using your Precision Mover. After this, you must wait 24 hours before attacking from your 1st city. So attack from your 2nd city. 7. Send yourself an email to know when you moved. 8. After the 24 hr wait, your 2 cities are together & operational. -end- ................................................................................... Guide #11 Main Researches while in NP Most players are in Newcomers Protection up to Rectorate Level 4. During that time, you should follow this study plan. Groups of subjects should be researched in the following order. Study Group A subjects simultaneously (in both the Academy and in the University). Guide #12 OVERNIGHT PROTECTION Protecting Your City from maraud Other players will maraud your city without any warning. They can wipe out all your troops and all of your resources and all of your sesterces in one attack. This cannot happen while you are in Newcomer Protection. But as soon as your Newcomer Protection (NP) expires you must take precautions every night and whenever you are attacked while playing. Here is what you must do EVERY NIGHT: 1. UNCHECK Head-On in the Engagement Protocol tab in your plaza in every one of your cities. 2. To Hide your Sesterces: Study the Guide titled "Hiding Sesterces" 3. To Hide your Resources Study the Guide titled "Hiding Resources" If you don't have these Guides, just wait or ask your host for them. Don't let marauders kill your troops and pillage your city. -end- ................................................................................... Guide #13 Hiding Sesterces After you leave Newcomer Protection, every night and whenever your city is being attacked you should hide your sesterces. This procedure hides the sesterces in an offer to BUY iron in the market. Offer to Spend any or all (Click Maximize) your sesterces to BUY iron at a ridiculously LOW price. A good price is 1/2 the price of the lowest existing offer (at the bottom). The ridiculous price is so low that no other player will sell you any. Your offer will stay unfulfilled until you cancel it. During this time, all your sesterces are "hidden" and no marauder will get them. To unhide your sesterces, simply cancel the order and you will get your sesterces back. The downside is that it costs you 0.5% of you sesterces each time you hide them. In this way, anyone can hide (and unhide) any number of sesterces. Limited only to 200 million of the resource being bought. NEVER let a marauder get your sesterces again. -end- ................................................................................... Guide #14 Hiding Resources After you leave Newcomer Protection, every night and whenever your city is being attacked you should either sell or hide all your resources. Hiding is preferable. Hiding your resources is similar to hiding sesterces except that each resource must be SOLD at a ridiculously HIGH price. A good price is twice the price of the resource being offered for sale on the TOP line of the market prices. To unhide your resources, simply cancel the offer to sell and you will get your resources back. Three cautions apply. a) it costs you 0.5% of the selling price of the resource to hide them. b) The market must be at level 5 to hide sesterces and the 4 types of resources c) There is a limit to how many resources you can UNHIDE but hiding up to 2.9 million of a resource is always fine. So don't HIDE more than 2.9 million. Ask for help about hiding more than that. If you hide too many (eg 25 million crops) they will ALL be unrecoverably lost when you UNHIDE them. NEVER let a marauder get your resources again. -end- ................................................................................... Don't bother sending Specs with less than level 3 Reconn. Guide #16 Assist Seizing of Wilds One of the best ways to help a smaller player is to help him seize bigger River Wilds than his armies will allow. You can use the table below to estimate the troops at the wild (in equivalent Hastatus). Or you can use Specs to scout the wild. The small player should send 1/3 of the wild's troops, the strong player should send an army at least 10 times that size. The smaller player must be able to accept an additional seized wild. Guide #17 Specialization by City Resource production rises dramatically when you specialize your city production and training. Strong players do. When not specified, seize water wilds. Build 1 or 2 warehouses in each city & no Academy in cities not training troops. Don't upgrade idle workplaces. (All will house troops.) Specialized cities should be located together. City# Specialization 1 initially produce 3 crops for each wood, stone, metal, train hastatus 1 cont'd seize water wilds, eventually just produce crops and sesterces 2 crops and equites, seize water wilds only 3 metal and hastatus seize 20% mountains (eventually train principes) 4 stone and onagers, seize 20% deserts (then train 80% principes) 5 wood and sesterces, seize 20% forests, no academy 6 crops and equites, seize water wilds only 7 metal and principes, seize 20% mountains 8 crops and sesterces, seize water wilds only, no academy 9 wood and sagitarrius (or principes), seize 20% forests 10 crops and equites, seize water wilds only -end- ....................................................................................................... Guide #18 What does POT mean for a Hero? A POT hero is a very valuable hero whose name is shown in blue. A Pot Hero is a hero with great Potential. He becomes more valuable more quickly than a normal hero. A normal hero becomes increasingly valuable as he gains experience. A hero's experience is used to upgrade his UTP which is his traits: (Sway, Bravery and Parry). UTP is Unassigned Trait Points. But a Pot hero's traits grow faster. For example, a Pot 7 hero has more potential than an normal hero because his traits grow 70% faster. You could say that a Pot hero gets smarter faster. Sway is a Consul's ability to persuade (sway) his city employees to work better. While fighting, a Hero's Sway permits him/her to lead a bigger army. More Bravery improves the ability to attack. More Parry improves the ability to defend. -end- ....................................................................................................... Guide #19 Attacking Your First City 1) Make sure that the lord of the city is not in a league. His league members could declare war on our whole league 2) Judge by the prestige & city icon, if you think you will win. If not, choose another target 3) Send 20 or 40 speculatores to scout it. You might lose them all. But if they live, you know if the city has anything worth looting. 4) Send a non-pot hero with just 1 Hastatus to maraud to see if his Head-On is Unchecked. If he lives, Head-On is Unchecked. If you are lucky & the lord isn't there, you won't lose any troops when you really attack If he dies, HeadOn is Checked. You lost 1 Hastatus and you get to see the troops living in that city (whether or not the lord is online) 5) If Head-On is UnChecked then (using Protective Stop) You can send some troops to maraud, hoping he is not online or you can decide not to attack You should use the Multiple Arena Tactic (see Secret #08) IF Head-On is Checked, you compare his troops to yours. Guide #22 Ring a Player's Bell (an alert) To tell a player (or a league official) something important when he/she doesn't seem to be watching his league chat window: 1. (Get ready in advance by asking the player the coords of one of his small seized wilds.) On server B65, Karma has a Lvl 4 wild at [91,56] 2. PM your message or send your email (game mail) to the player. 3. To ring his/her bell, just maraud the player's wild (eg the wild at [91,56] for Karma) with 1 Hastatus. 4. Summon Back the army immediately. (It won't cost you a Summon Edict Item, if you summon back WITHIN 1 MINUTE.) 5. The trumpet will sound for the player being marauded. 6. If online with high enough volume, he/she will be alerted. 7. By looking at league chat and his email box, he/she can reply. Neat. huh -end- ....................................................................................................... Guide #23 Hoarding Resources If you know how to hide your resources (up to 2.9 million) then you are ready to start hiding large quantities of resources. This is called hoarding resources. In this way you can hide 25 million to 100 million or more of any resource. Hiding this quantity of resources is done exactly the same way as when hiding a smaller quantity of resources. But problems can occur when you unhide large quantities of resources. If you do it wrong, you will lose ALL the resources that you hid. To do it right, you must never hide more resources than the ARSC, which is the maximum capacity of ALL the warehouses in the city, not in ALL your cities. Always look at the Warehouse ARSC before hiding large quantities of resources and you will not lose them. BEWARE. And NEVER hide more than the ARSC in one order. But you can hide many orders of this size. -end- ....................................................................................................... Guide #24 Single (vs Multiple) City Strategy Most players build as many cities as they can, as soon as they can. Check WHEN the attack will be, by WHOM, and if it is a Maraud or a Colonize by: a) Clicking on the Reports button, then on the Arena tab to see if it is a Maraud or a Colonize, AND when it will happen AND the name of the attacker's city (it doesn't name the attacker) b) if Colonizing (it takes many hits), relax, don't defend. c) Look up the city name (City tab of Ranking button up top) to get the attacker's name. d) Look up the Prestige, Honor and League of the attacker in Ranking 3. Only consider defending if attacker has low prestige AND NO league AND is marauding. 4. If defending, ask for help & defend at the last minute. 5. Guide #28 Defending a city being marauded or colonized Do NOT fight to defend. Take the following defensive actions instead: a) UNCHECK Head-On in Engagement Protocol in the Plaza b) hide all your resources c) hide all your sesterces (after hiding resources) d) do NOT ask others to defend you. they may lose their troops e) send the URL of the battle replay to your Host (or Defence Coordinator) so he can see the enemy's army size and city location f) do not communicate with the attacker by email. Keep quiet If marauding, the attacker will get no ses, no res and will kill no troops. If colonizing, ask your league for assistance via league chat. Guide #29 (Almost) Lossless Marauds (not for farming luxes) It is possible to attack wilds very rapidly with NO lost troops. The trick is to send enough Equites and no other troops. If you hit river wilds, there is no smoke and enemies don't know what you're doing and therefore cannot spike you. Lossless marauds are NOT good to farm luxes but are good to seize and for Tr.Maps. Put this # of Equites into EACH of the 3 front stacks & leave the rear stacks empty. Send them to a nearby River Wild as fast as you can type. If you have enough Equites, load them onto a 2nd or 3rd hero and send them out at the same time. For Wilds over level 2, send a Dummy army first to avoid losses. Your coloured aglets and crops will pile up. Occasionally a big wild will kill a few troops. Guide #30 Transferring Resources and Sesterces (Lost in Transit) Members with high prestige can usually transfer res and ses to others. BUT BEWARE. Always check the prestige level of the person whom you are shipping to. If they have MORE prestige than you, some, much or ALL of the shipment will be "lost in transit". This is what the system does to prevent low prestige people from sending stuff to higher prestige people. There is a way to get around this but it is very complex. A good way to transfer to a higher prestige person is to contact your host, who will give you the name (& coords) of a city with lower prestige than you. You can send the stuff to that city with no losses. Guide #33 Reacting to Loss of all your Speculatores This means that another player sent a bunch of Speculatores to gain intelligence about your city. He sent more specs than you had. So yours all got killed. You can take various actions, but you cannot really find out who sent the specs. 1) Train a much larger number of speculatores hoping to have more than he sends specs the next time. 2) Wait until he takes further action against you. If he wants to find out if your Head-On is UNCHECKED he will send 1 Hastatus or 1 Equity who will die but will either tell him that HEADON is UNCHECKED or the # of troops that you have. But either way, you will know who is attacking. 3)Wait until he takes further action against you. If he is much stronger than you, he might either a) send a very strong army to maraud all your sesterces and resources. To prevent this you must hide all of your sesterces and resources. b) send up to 20 simultaneous colonizing armies to colonize you in one 15 minute sweep. If you think that he will do this use a Cease--Fire. c) slowly send 20 consecutive colonizing armies. If you see that he is doing this, ask your league for help via league chat. -end- ................................................................................... Guide #34 Losses during Market Transfers (not LeKool) Problem: Players with higher prestige can transport to players of lower prestige with no losses. But a player with lower prestige always suffers almost 100% "losses en route" when transporting res/ses to a player with higher prestige. Solution: You create a small city called a "Truser city" (Transfer User) belonging to an alt that you create. Anyone can transfer to that low pres alt's city. Then you maraud that low pres city to get the res/ses. So you should locate the truser city close to your destination city. I keep the Rectorate less than lvl 2 so that the rectorate won't protect any res/ses from maraud. Other Considerations: Of course other players can see the smoke and can steal (by assisting in the maraud) or spike. So I occasionally maraud the truser city with 1 Hastatus to create smoke. Then others cannot tell if I'm really transferring or not. Guide #37 Get Hero Prisoners and Treasure Maps Once you can train Equites, train 360 of them so you can easily win your attacks on Lvl 3 River wilds with almost NO LOSSES. Give as few as 3x120 Equites to your Blue (POT) Hero and Seize the nearest Level 3 River wild (that is not owned by anyone else) time after time. If you accidentally seize someone else's Lvl 3 wild, they might get mad and attack you. You should attack Lvl 3 river wilds instead of Lvl 1 or 2. This is because Lvl 3 wilds often give you Treasure Maps as loot. You need many Treasure Maps to convert them into Hippodamian Plans (needed when you upgrade your cities). Also, when you seize wilds, you often get Hero Prisoners, that become good heroes for you as soon as you retain them. But only retain those UNDER Level 5 The game says that it costs you sesterces to retain a hero prisoner, but, in fact, they are free to retain, not like normal Heroes that you must pay to retain. Guide #38 Scouting the Enemy Every time you attack a wild or anything else, you have a great advantage if you know the exact strength of the enemy army. You can discover the exact troop numbers at any wild by sending 7 Speculatores to scout it. But your scout won't return with the exact troop counts unless you have studied Reconnaissance Lvl 3 in the city. Study this, then send out your scouts. Once you know how many troops are at each wild, you can decide to attack the wilds with the smallest numbers of troops. You can compare the strengths of whole armies by converting each troop type to its Equivalent number of Hastatus (eH) using the Kill Matrix in Guide # 8. If you send 2.2 times the number of Equivalent Hastatus against any wild, you will always win (unless you are spiked). Avoid spikes by attacking water wilds. You shouldn't unpack all these mini-packs right away because you have to feed them after you unpack them. Assume that Head-On is Unchecked and that no defending army is sent. # of Onagers to send If you attack with an army of 1 Equity and 1 Onager, the Onager will remove 100 bricks for each round against the wall. Only 500 rounds are sent. So each Onager will remove 50,000 bricks in total. The number of Onagers required is 40 ( = 2,000,000 / 50,000 ). So at least 40 Onagers must be sent to bring down the wall. A city cannot store more than 2,140,000,000 of any resource without hiding some. A level 10 market can hide another 2,000,000,000 resources in 10 orders of 200 million. (Produced resources are lost when CRC is breached.) --How much can we keep safe from marauders? All hidden resources are safe. Only 30% of your total WareHouse capacity (CRC) are safe from maraud. Each level 2 WareHouse keeps 160,000 resources safe. A Level 6 keeps 2,560,000 resources safe. A level 12 keeps 159,600,000 resources safe. --Beware when hiding resources. Colonization is usually a lengthy process, taking up to 4 hours to complete. (This presumes that you are Censor/Quaestor level.) React as follows: 1. UNCHECK Head-On in Engagement Protocol in the Plaza. 2. Tell your Host (or Defence Coordinator) a) you are being colonized. b) if you have a Divine Liberty Item. c) what your current Allegiance and Grievances are. 3. Do NOT hide your resources and sest. 4. Do NOT adjust your Allegiance. 5. Estimate when the colonization will be complete. Presume that the attacker will NOT send his colonization attacks simultaneously. 6. Return to your computer 20 minutes before the colonization is complete (even if you must set your alarm clock to do this) 7. Perform "Second Steps when defending a city being colonized" in guide 55. -end- ................................................................................... Check to see if they have garrisoned troops in your city. Normally they do NOT. 10. If they have not garrisoned any troops in your city, send all your troops (except 10 Hastatus) to another of your cities. If necessary, train 1 Hastatus for the War of Independence. 11. Start a War of Independence (bottom right hand corner of the Colonization window.) You will win immediately and will be NO LONGER colonized. This successful War of Independence MUST occur within 24 hours of being colonized. 12. If this doesn't work, speak to your Host (or Defence Coordinator) again. 13. The next step is usually for your league to send a Big Army to attack the troops that the enemy has Garrisoned in your city. Guide #56 Last Minute Preparations for League War To prepare for war, here is what you should do: 1. If your War Coordinator asks: Total up the # of troops of each type across all your cities and send them to him 2. Hire as many heroes as you can, of levels 1 and 2 and 3 (20 or 30 per city isn't too many for dummies) 3. Stop opening your mini, midi and large-packs of captives (to minimize troops who eat) 4. Train as many Equites as you can, or Hastatus if your cities cannot train Equites. 5. If training Equites, set tax rate to 45% (unless your crop production slowly turns red) 6. Train Ballistae or Onagers (1/10 of your Equivalent Hastatus troop #s should be these) 7. Train Around 100xN Speculatores in each of your cities (N is your Rectorate level). 8. Only create Agronomy (Farm) jobs to produce as much food as you can. 9. Upgrade your Plaza to its highest level possible. 10. Study Reconnaissance up to level 7 (to see exact # of troops in enemy cities) 11. Guide #57 Hitting a WSC (no losses) The WSC gets reset to 1 at a specified time. Then it's number goes up each time it is hit by anyone. The enemy at the WSC gets stronger each time its number goes up. Your hero gets experience if you win. But the rewards vary by both -the number : Normal rewards aren't worth much. But If the number is divisible by 10, you get a book if you win. (A book shortens your troop training time) -how many troops you send compared to the enemy at the WSC: If you are too weak - no reward If you are a little bit stronger (say up to 2.2 times as strong) -best rewards If you are way too strong (say 50 times as strong) very small rewards. Most of the time the number ends in "1" because of the book. Guide #64 POT heroes You should choose your biggest POT hero and assign him as many trait points as you can. Then make him Consol of your city whenever he is not fighting, especially overnight. A POT Hero is the real name for a Blue Hero. Any hero can up upgraded level by level. Higher level heroes can lead bigger armies. Heroes have Traits (sway etc) defined by how many UTP points you assign to each trait. POT heroes get extra UTP points compared to normal heroes. (Most players only upgrade POT heroes.) You can tailor a hero to the job you give him. You can give him more: -Sway - to better govern your city or lead more troops -Bravery - when leading an offensive army -Parry - when leading a defensive army Most players keep Sway twice as high as the other two traits. Always use your POT heroes when fighting so that they gain experience as fast as possible. While a hero is Consul, he also gains experience (even more while training troops eg 66 exp/equity see Guide #102) More experience gives them more UTP points. Once you have Reconnaissance 10, you learn why: some Level 7 wilds have Footpace 7 (and thus the Sagittari have Dispersion), and some have Footpace 6. Now isn’t that a problem? While Dispersion means that there is 1/4 the damage as before, it also means each of your divisions will get hit by 1-3 sets of Sagittari – and kill your troops before the enemy front divisions have even had a chance to attack.This means that more and more of the enemy’s troops from other heroes will be attacking your main hero, causing you to take more losses. But there is a way to survive! You have to figure out what kind of damage your decoy will see from dispersion, because it needs to be able to survive that and still survive enough to have someone standing for the front divisions. In order to do this, you need to know what technology the wild has and what technology you have. -end- ..................................................................................................... Guide #72 Marauding Wilds 7-10 Part 2 of 8 Step 1: Scout the wild. Send a scout to the wild you’re going to maraud. Step 2: Figure out how the troops are divided. Now we need to figure out how many heroes have Sagittari, and how many of that hero’s divisions have Sagittari. How many heroes: Are there Equites? If there are no Equites, then each hero has Sagittari. If there are Equites, there is one hero that does NOT have Sagittari (as heroes with Equites ONLY have Equites). In this case, there are no Equites and it’s a level 10 wild, so there are 4 heroes with Sagittari. How many rear divisions have Sagittari: Are there Onagers or Ballistae or both? If there are no Onagers or Ballista, there are 3 divisions of Sagittari. If there are Onagers AND Ballistae, there is 1 division of Sagittari. If there are Onagers or Ballistae (but not both), there are 2 divisions of Sagittari. In this case, there are no Onagers or Ballista, so there are 3 divisions of Sagittari. -end- ..................................................................................................... Multiply the number of heroes with Sagittari by the number of divisions of Sagittari on any given hero to get the total number of divisions of Sagittari. For my scouted wild, there are a total of 12 divisions of Sagittari. Since there are 20,796 Sagittari in total according to the scout report, there are roughly 20,796 / 12 = 1,733 Sagittari in each division. Step 3: Take into consideration the non-Sagittari enemy divisions. We must also consider the damage the other divisions give. Hastati only attack one time, so there just needs to be one left over to survive. Principes attack twice, so we’ll need something in the rear division. Ballistaes attack twice if they’ve got Arming 7, as the damage penetrates the front division and some will land on the rear division. Onagers attack once. ..................................................................................................... Guide #74 Marauding Wilds 7-10 Part 4 of 8 So, for Principes or Onagers, you need one rear division to be filled. With Ballistaes, you need two. Step 4: Figure out how much damage each division will give you. With dispersion, each of your decoys will get damage from each division of the enemy’s Sagittari. The damage is 25% of the damage Sagittari are capable of giving (by the definition of dispersion), and Sagittari give at most 5 damage. You also need to take into consideration the damage boost from the Footpace technology. Footpace raises the damage by 3% per level. The approximate amount of damage the Sagittari will give your dummy is: (# of divisions with Sagittari) x (# of Sagittari in each division) x (5/4)x(1+# of footpace x 0.03) For my wild, this is 3 x 1733 x (5/4) x (1+0.3) = 8,449 HP. -end- ..................................................................................................... I’m going to use Principes in my dummy, because Sagittari give Principes less damage (70% of the damage they give other heroes) and because Principes’ larger HP means that you lose less troops. So how many Principes do I need to survive dispersion? Your Medication level comes into play, because it increases your HP, as does whatever equipment you put on your dummies. (#damage) x 0.7 / ( (400+equipment HP boosts) x (1+( medication level )/20 )) For my wild, without Equipment and with level 10 medication, I need: 8449 x 0.7 / (400 x 1.4) = 10.5 Principes to survive the dispersion. (In the example below, I forgot the 70% reduction and put in too many principes.) It is bartered in exchange for Emblems, luxuries etc. Emblems and luxuries can be purchased using gold, or earned by attacking sites like Rebel Cities in each province. Each piece of equipment is assigned to cover part of a hero's body. Different types of equipment make a hero's army faster, braver, stronger etc. Things increased by equipment are: HP, Bravery, Defence, success rate, life of troops etc. More recent types of equipment are more complex and are only active for a brief time interval. Some require the body part to be "unlocked" with Minerva Gems before the equipment can be worn. Equipment adds complexity to the game and provides new reasons to spend money. Guide #90 Getting Emblems From Rebel Cities Equipment (armour for your heroes) is a main part of the game. Emblems must be exchanged for Equipment. So a player needs Emblems, hundreds of Emblems. The first Emblems needed are from Rome and Parthia. Emblems are part of the rewards for attacking the Rebel Cities (RCs). The rank of Legate is necessary to exchange Emblems. But Emblems can be gathered long before the rank of Legate is made. By the time, a player becomes Legate, it is possible to have gathered hundreds of Emblems. In fact, it is desirable to do do. Attacking Rebel Cities is described in Guide 60. A Black WSC Pass is used each time a Rebel City is attacked. Troop losses are only 20% of those expected. Attacking a Rebel City is very similar to attacking a WSC which is described in Guide 59. Most players use the same army configurations to attack RCs and WSCs. Hero Experience is gained from both RCs and WSCs. But Emblems are only gained at RCs. Attacking rounds 1 to 20 only requires small armies. A player can locate a city near each RC to reduce troop travel time. Troops losses are minimal, so start attacking RC's with a rank lower than Legate. You can get POT 8 hero's if you attack using 300 red WSC passes and having a lot of luck or beating somebody's POT hero who has very low loyalty points. 2) Level Up your POT hero to level 255 this permits your POT hero to lead a big army such as 125k/125k/125k Hastatus. 3) Assign Trait Points Very Strategically Hero's have 3 types of trait points: Sway, Bravery and Parry. Each is unique and depending on which traits you set will factor greatly in battle. SWAY increases the troop count that you can carry. It is very easy to determine if someone has chosen this path because they will have 170k ponies. The trait that stands out is actually PARRY. Why would it be there in the first place? each is important that's why it is there, its about choosing the balance correctly. I have found that the longer the hero stays in the battle it seams to increase in attack power. Strong players assign traits in this order: PARRY, SWAY then BRAVERY. High defence, decent amount of troops and lastly attack power; remember: the longer the hero stays in battle seems to increase in attack power. For example, A POT 8 with PARRY=353, SWAY=382 & BRAVERY=283 can lead a total of 103,870 Ponies; large enough with high defence and good attack power. This hero can outdo a hero with high attack and sway by staying in longer and losing a lot less troops; remember their parry is 23. But these armies must only be used to attack rounds 1 to 10. This minimum army setup is popular because it can be easily remembered; Send 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90, 100x3 from rounds 1-10 for the minimum ponies needed. Some players equip 10 heroes each with an army listed above. Then the 10 attacks can be sent out very rapidly if the Plaza is level 10 (or 2 Plazas of Level 5 in 2 cities). This stops other players from stealing the rewards from the valuable round 10. A large number (say 40/city) of inexpensive low level heroes are quite advantageous in this and many other situations. If we all have the same city names, he doesn't know who is attacking him and cannot decide who to defend against. Guide #106 Coordinated Attacks (or Joint Attacks) One day, all members of this league will be called to participate in attacking an enemy. Some will provide a big army (called a Hammer) and some will provide small armies (called Dummy armies:Guide 25). It is important to learn how to coordinate these attacks. We cannot just ask everyone to hit a certain coordinate. It is important that the Hammers and the Dummy armies arrive in the correct sequence, regardless of who we are attacking. This is not a trivial matter. The communication and the actual sending of the armies must be practised, so that it is very easily done (without error) when we are fighting. A good way to practise coordinated attacks is by participating in our daily attacks on the Carthage Thugs (Guide 41). This guide explains how to calculate what combination of troops will fill a hero's faculty.
