Request by Jan Barber

	Good morning,

Would you please assist me in finding an article printed in The Vineland Historical Magazine entitled “The Gould-Walls Genealogy”, written by Herbert Arthur Walls, Senior, most likely in the 1970’s? The 5-page article starts on page 153. The pages are not dated. The opening text reads:

The several immigrants by the name of Gould arriving in America before 1700 may well belong to different branches of the same family, but only one – as far as I know – can trace his ancestry directly back, through wills, to Thomas Gould of Bovington Parish of Hemel Hempstead, Hartfordshire, England, and he is Zaccheus Gould, who came to New England in 1638.

My family’s copy has deteriorated with age.

I am documenting this family line, as follows: 1) Lieutenant James Gould, 1743 – 1822, is recognized by the DAR and the SAR as a Revolutionary War patriot; 2) Private James Gould, 1765-1844, was NEVER recognized. James served as a “waiter” to his father.

Herbert Walls’ article names both men and clarifies their role in the Revolutionary War.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

	Regards,

	Janine Barber
